The Internet has democratized how we share information unlike anything before it. Educators and administrators can share ideas, best practices, and advice with their global peers from the comfort of their school, leaning on one another to refine their strategies and techniques.

It’s easy to get in on the conversation and stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the education world. See below for a list of places to check online when you have a question, want to hear others’ thoughts, or just want to grab the headlines.

Hashtags to Follow on Twitter

Twitter is a great place to curate news from top education news outlets and journals. When sharing an education-related tweet, many will include a hashtag—a way of categorizing that content. Here are some places to start. Simply click on each phrase below to see a list of tweets that include that hashtag.

Online Forums

Education-focused publications, such as Education World and Edutopia, host online forums about their articles and hot topics of discussion. Whether you want to discuss something related to private-independent schools or a more general news topic, they have dedicated forums where you can read or ask questions.

ISM’s E-Lists

While it’s great to get insight from educators of all backgrounds, you may want to ask “How do other schools like ours take on this task or solve this issue?” ISM’s e-lists are free, email-based resources for school-focused conversations and discussions. They’re segmented by job role, so you can choose to join the groups that make sense for you based on your responsibilities at your school. Subscribe to read peer responses to peers on the issues that matter most to them.
